assessment helper

one observation, gold ready.

drop in what was seen. a draft note comes back tagged to the right objective, save it to a child's file, and see coverage build across all 38 objectives.

for programs using teaching strategies. official record lives in MyTeachingStrategies .

a quick word, before you fill it out

what this actually is
gold asks you to pay attention across 38 objectives, gather small pieces of evidence as they happen, and rate each child three times a year. the objectives cover the whole child: social-emotional, language, physical, cognitive, literacy, math, and more. a two-sentence note with a date counts. a photo with a caption counts. you are not writing essays.
why it gets asked of you
a lot of programs (many head start grantees, plenty of state pre-k, most centers on the ts platform) chose gold as their assessment of record. once a program picks it, checkpoints become part of the year the way parent-teacher conferences are. the deadlines feel intense in the two weeks before a window closes. everyone survives it.
who it is really for
for you, gold tells you what small skills to plan for next. for the family, the colored bands show a child's growth without any judgment attached. for the program, it is the aggregate report funders and accreditors ask to see.

the child

what happened?

just say it plainly. who did what, with what, for how long, what was said. quotes are useful. real details only, nothing made up.

a starting draft. always verify against your full record of the child before entering anything official.
